Naturally coloured roots as a tool for studying root interactions in mixed cropping

نویسندگان

چکیده

The objective of this study was to evaluate the usage species with coloured roots root growth patterns during intercropping. Red beet (Beta vulgaris L. cv. Detroit), having clear red roots, used in a semi-field and field experiment allow identification quantification individual mixture. In experiment, strip intercropped lucerne (Medicago sativa Creno) kale (Brassica oleracea var. Sabellica), respectively while beet-lucerne intercropping conducted large rhizoboxes where distribution 15N isotope uptake determined. confirmed that direct visual measurement using indirect tracer measurements contributed success studying dynamics systems. intensity not considerably affected by when crops were established at same time, but between existing strips, reduction border row shown. Lucerne both observed be able exploit deep soil layers beneath row.

Engineering of soybean mosaic virus as a versatile tool for studying protein–protein interactions in soybean

Transient gene expression approaches are valuable tools for rapid introduction of genes of interest and characterization of their functions in plants. Although agroinfiltration is the most effectively and routinely used method for transient expression of multiple genes in various plant species, this approach has been largely unsuccessful in soybean. In this study, we engineered soybean mosaic v...

Medicago truncatula AS A MODEL FOR STUDYING INTERACTIONS BETWEEN ROOT PARASITIC PLANTS AND LEGUMES

Parasitic angiosperms are a pest for many crops in the World. Broomrapes (Orobanche spp.) belong to this group of parasites and attach to the roots of the hosts in order to take water and nutrients from them. This causes a pernicious effect on the crops which can lead to a complete yield loss in some cases. No complete control measures are available to date, but breeding for resistance remains ...

Styrofoam cup-membrane assembly for studying microorganism-root interactions.

An assembly consisting of Styrofoam cups with membranes of varying porosities was developed to study microorganism-root interactions. The assembly permitted uniform distribution of a bacterium in soil and was simple, easy to use, and disposable. In tests with the bacterium Pseudomonas solanacearum, little difference in P. solanacearum survival was observed in the rhizosphere or nonrhizosphere o...

Positron Emission Tomography As a Tool for Studying Alcohol Abuse

Positron emission tomography (PET) is an imaging technology that measures the concentration, distribution, and pharmacokinetics of radiotracers-molecules that are labeled with short-lived positron-emitting variants of chemical elements naturally found in the body. These radioisotopes can be attached to compounds involved in normal brain function and then injected into the blood stream. The sign...
